We never update old versions. And definitely no changes that break our 3-level numbering scheme.

So please resubmit with the desired changes ... but do not touch the version numbers.

Thanks for the clarification @JorjMcKie. To be honest, this MR was created by mistake — I only intended to push the code to my fork for storage, not to open a PR.

If you’d like to keep any of the changes, I’d be happy to clean them up and submit them properly. The version deviations were just failed attempts to install my fork via pip; I’ll remove those and resubmit without touching the version numbers.

We’re currently pinned to a fixed release of your library in production, so we won’t immediately benefit from upcoming changes. If you could point me to instructions on producing a custom build of your project, I’d really appreciate it.

You can build PyMuPDF from the source distribution available on PyPI. The How To is in the documentation.
I'm doing this all the time on my computer.
